Takoma Park Friends Meeting-Preparative gathered on 2/21/2021through a Zoom audio/video connection.
We heard queries from Baltimore Yearly Meeting Faith and Practice on meetings for business. We heard that forbearance can involve patience and self-restraint.
Tricia Crocker, treasurer, presented the budget-year-to-date treasurer’s report for the period 12/1/2020 to 2/21/2021 (attached). The treasurer reported that BYM had approved adjustment of AFM’s apportionment, and accordingly Takoma Park’s apportionment, downwards in the amount of $1,560 (arising from capital gains that had been included in the apportionment report but was not required to be included under BYM rules). We accepted the report. We amended the budget so as to not include this amount as a transfer from the meeting place fund.
Concerning Baltimore Yearly Meeting’s queries to spark preparation of our spiritual state of the meeting report for 2020, we approved the queries to be considered at the second hour next week on this topic as suggested by BYM.
We approved a loan to Adelphi Friends Meeting (AFM) of $50,000 out of our meeting place fund at 2% annual interest for an 18-year term, as set forth in a letter received from AFM. We directed the presiding clerk to sign the letter on behalf of the meeting. We directed the Treasurer to withdraw $50,000 from our account with Friends Fiduciary and to transfer the funds to AFM.
We decided to celebrate the meeting’s 30th anniversary at the light refreshment time next month.
We heard and approved these minutes. We adjourned, to gather next on March 21, 2021, at 1:30, or at the call of the presiding clerk.
